My Pappa

My Pappa was born on 13/5/1914, married my mother in 1938, but left into eternity, on Oct.4, 1962, leaving my mother and 8 children orphaned!

He started his profession as a Tailor. Then developed the small-scale and cottage industty of toys-making. Initiated the co-operative society for that. At one time, the society employed about 70 staffs in those years in a coastal village like Poonthura. The society used to participate in Exhibitions in different parts of the Kerala state and even in some states, outside the state. He also had initiated a home-based one for toys-making, named as ‘Joma’s Industries’, named after his eldest daughter. He was locally refered as ‘Peter Mesiri’. He was hard-working, creative (developed many toys designs, models, machine-tools…), soft-speaking and affectionate. Unfortunately, in those days of non-specialized medical treatment, his ailment was not cured and we lost him for ever.

This is a painting done by Artist William (not the flower-frame), based on a funeral group photo
